Exposure to the creative arts, and the chance to develop and strengthen creativity, are real advantages of a Wellington education, with our Art and Design & Technology Departments at the very heart of the main building.

Art at Wellington is a creative and practical subject which demands visual intelligence, independent thinking and technical ability. Pupils are introduced to a wide range of media and techniques which include painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, digital media and textiles.

Our key aim in the Art department at Wellington is to teach everyone about visual creative expression, and in today's digital world, studying Art has become an ideal stepping stone for careers in Architecture, Illustration, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Fashion Design, Advertising, Film, Media, Game Design and Animation and many, many more.
The music programme at Wellington is exceptional, catering to a vast array of interests, including classical, jazz, rock, pop, and world music.

In addition to the comprehensive academic curriculum, we offer a variety of music ASAs, encouraging pupils to engage in extracurricular activities that complement classroom learning and foster their musical passions. Throughout the academic year, we host a wide range of large-scale concerts, recitals, and competitions, providing pupils with frequent opportunities to showcase their talents, including performances at assemblies. Our dedicated music teachers work closely with pupils to provide personalised coaching and mentoring, allowing them to explore their potential and develop a lifelong appreciation for music.

Additionally, workshops with renowned musicians are organised to enrich pupils' learning experiences and inspire creative growth. We are committed to providing diverse avenues for pupils to enhance their musical skills, deepen their cultural understanding, and cultivate an artistic sensibility that will enrich their lives.
The Seldon Theatre is the vibrant hub of drama at Wellington. Each year, we present a full-length annual musical production that aspires to reach professional standards, showcasing the exceptional talent and dedication of our pupils.

In addition to this marquee event, we offer a diverse array of performances, including Chinese and English drama shows, providing pupils with ample opportunities to display their versatility and artistic flair.

Pupils also actively participate in House performances, film competitions, talent shows, and pupil-led projects, fostering a spirit of creativity, teamwork, and innovation. Our programme is designed to nurture budding artists, encouraging them to explore their potential and appreciate the performing arts in all its forms.
