Overview
Core Values
As with pupils at all stages of a Wellington education, the educational experience is underpinned throughout by the school’s core values of respect, kindness, responsibility, integrity and courage, helping to prepare young people for a world beyond school.
Our International Primary School Curriculum
The rigorous curriculum at our international elementary school in Tianjin lays the groundwork for your child's long-term academic success. While modelled after the English National Curriculum, we enrich it with elements from the International Primary Curriculum and a wide range of co-curricular activities.
During these formative years, elementary school pupils transition from general classroom teaching to specialised instruction, fostering independence and personal responsibility as they prepare for Senior School. By the end of Year 6, pupils will be well-equipped for their next academic challenges.
Subjects Taught in Primary School
•English •Maths •Science •Mandarin
•Art •Music •Physical Education (PE) •Information Technology
Pupils are guided through their learning by classroom teachers and subject specialists, notably in music, PE, Mandarin and, increasingly, information technology and science.
Mandarin Chinese Curriculum
Tianjin Elementary School’s Mandarin Chinese curriculum is academically challenging and offers diverse opportunities for both non-Mandarin and Mandarin speakers. Each key stage features tailored programs that align with the cognitive development of different age groups. For pupils in Years 7-9, the curriculum builds on Junior School programs, providing a structured course that prepares them for public examination courses.
Co-Curricular Activities
At Tianjin, our elementary school curriculum extends beyond the classroom. While we prioritise academic achievement, our diverse activities program promotes a holistic approach to learning. We encourage pupils to explore new interests, maintain physical and intellectual well-being, and discover opportunities for self-expression.
Our co-curricular activities play a crucial role in developing well-rounded individuals, helping pupils find their passions and cultivating skills in intellectual, cultural, and athletic areas, starting as early as primary school, preparing them for life beyond Wellington.
