Welcome to Our Bilingual Early Year Centre
Our bilingual nursery – the Nest – offers the very finest all-around early years' education in Tianjin. Children from 2–6 years of age are provided with a structured, rigorous programme designed to develop the essential skills required to flourish in the 21st-century world. Our pupils are not only supported in fostering positive relationships with others through socialisation and play-based learning, but also in developing their own sense of independence within a safe and nurturing environment.

In addition, with two teachers in each class, each committed to a vision of genuine bilingualism, our pupils are immersed in the cognitive and social advantages of proficiency in two or more languages. By the time children in the Nest graduate to Year 2 in our Junior School, their educational path will have prepared them for the rigours of the new curriculum and equipped them with the tools to succeed in their schooling.
The "Little Welly Club" is now open for children aged 10 to 24 months and their caregivers! We warmly invite you and your little one to join us on this exciting journey of early learning and growth. Our activities are carefully designed to align with the crucial stages of early childhood development. They aim to enhance children's sensory, motor, and social skills through play and exploration. During this stage, children are inquisitive and eager to explore their surroundings. We will guide them in safely and joyfully discovering the world in a manner that is both fun and educationally enriching.
Selecting the right bilingual nursery for your child lays the foundation for their lifelong learning journey. At Wellington's Early Years, we celebrate each child's uniqueness as a gift brimming with potential. In a multicultural environment that fosters respect, children explore the world around them while their individuality is nurtured and strengthened. Choosing a nursery is not just about facilities or curricula – it's about planting seeds of courage, curiosity, and empathy.

With over 160 years of educational heritage, a forward – thinking curriculum, and a warm, inclusive culture, Wellington College Bilingual Tianjin Nursery empowers children to construct their worldview through play and develop leadership through collaboration – the highest value an international nursery can offer.

Daily routines and arts programmes reinforce holistic development.

· Values in Action
Kindness, responsibility, respect, courage, and integrity are woven into daily interactions.
· Personalised Targets
The Leuven Scale measures wellbeing and engagement, while "Learning Journals" document achievements through photos, work samples, and parent contributions.

· Purposefully Designed Environment
Classrooms and outdoor spaces act as the "third teacher," encouraging exploration, collaboration, and creativity.
At the heart of our early years education is a commitment to nurturing strong bilingual foundations. From our teaching teams to daily activities and play spaces, every element is thoughtfully designed to help children flourish in both English and Chinese. Our approach ensures a solid linguistic grounding, empowering them to express themselves, understand others, and think critically across both cultures.

Each classroom is led by co-class teachers and teaching assistants - who share Wellington's educational ethos. Together, they foster every child's bilingual development, ensuring learning is engaging, meaningful, and full of discovery.

For young learners, building warm, trusting relationships with their teachers is key to developing communication and language skills. Through genuine, purposeful interactions, children naturally engage in dialogue - whether in one language, two, or even more.

Our learning spaces are carefully crafted to inspire curiosity, self-expression, and exploration. Both Chinese and international teachers seize everyday moments to encourage new vocabulary in English while deepening understanding through discussion. By hearing and using language in play, supported by rich visual cues, children quickly grow in confidence - becoming joyful, lifelong bilingual learners.
Our teachers are lifelong learners who foster strong home-school partnerships, ensuring every child thrives in a reflective, inquiry-driven environment.

At Wellington, we don't just teach—we inspire children to be themselves and become more.
