After fifteen years of dedication, today we reap the rewards. The Class of 2026 at Wellington College Education (China) - Tianjin has brought their senior school journey to a brilliant conclusion with a set of examination results that surpass all previous records. By the time of the graduation ceremony on 27 May, nearly 40 graduates had received over 300 university offers from six countries and regions around the world – an average of eight offers per pupil. The quality of these offers is equally impressive:

United Kingdom – This year’s graduates have been particularly outstanding: 18 pupils received a total of 33 offers from the prestigious ‘G5 Super Elite’ universities, including the University of Oxford (2 offers), Imperial College London (7 offers) and University College London (24 offers). Remarkably, one pupil received a conditional offer for Human Sciences at the University of Oxford – the only offer made to a candidate from the Chinese Mainland for this course. This honour is not only a personal highlight but also a powerful testament to our pupils’ exceptional ability in the world’s most competitive academic arena.
United States – Our graduates have also achieved great success in the US, securing offers from renowned institutions such as the University of Southern California, University of California, Irvine, University of California, Davis (2 offers), University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Boston University, and University of Washington (3 offers). Even more excitingly, we have celebrated two firsts in the school’s history: Claremont McKenna College and Macalester College. Claremont McKenna is renowned across the US for its rigorous admissions standards and outstanding programme in politics and economics, while Macalester is highly regarded for its diverse international perspective and teaching excellence. These two precious liberal arts colleges offers mark a breakthrough for our school in applications to top American liberal arts colleges.
Hong Kong SAR – Top universities have shown great enthusiasm for our pupils. This year’s graduates received ten offers from leading Hong Kong institutions, including the University of Hong Kong (4 offers), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (5 offers) and Chinese University of Hong Kong (1 offer) – clear evidence of our graduates’ strong competitiveness in international academic environments.
The range of subjects our graduates will explore is extraordinarily broad, covering five major fields: Engineering, Science, Business, Arts, and Social Sciences. This fully reflects the comprehensiveness and excellence of a Wellington education. From cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Engineering to Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering exploring the very essence of life; from Economics and Fashion Marketing tuned to market trends to Politics, Philosophy and Sociology examining human civilisation – the breadth and depth of over 40 specialisms is the perfect illustration of our pupils’ ethos: ‘more than excellent, courageously diverse’.

Behind these outstanding achievements lies the collective support of pupils, parents, teachers and the university guidance team. Our guidance counsellors create a dedicated profile for every pupil, beginning long‑term planning from Year 10, and provide one‑to‑one support on university selection, personal statement drafting and interview coaching – ensuring every child finds the university that is truly the ‘best fit’ for them.

On 27 May, the graduation ceremony was held in grand style at the Seldon Theatre. The occasion featured both thought‑provoking speeches and a spectacular programme of performances.

Dr Yang Yang spoke with great emotion: “Life holds endless possibilities. Face every challenge with courage and determination. The future is full of uncertainty, and this undefined life is the most exciting one in these unpredictable times. Perhaps one thing remains certain, this place is always a safe and warm harbour for you. May you fly high and far. May you come back sometimes to visit those of us who are always been here waiting for you.”

After the formal ceremony, guests moved to the school’s outdoor lawn to continue the celebration. Our wonderfully talented pupils delivered even more performances. Beneath the bright sunshine, graduates, parents and teachers gathered joyfully, reminiscing about the wonderful times spent at Wellington. Jeffrey, Head of the College, together with Deputy Heads of the College Mihi and Kai, jointly cut a giant cake – bringing the graduation ceremony to a perfect close.

May our graduates carry this honour and warmth with them as they journey far and wide. The end of one chapter is but the beginning of another. Once a Wellingtonian, always a Wellingtonian.
