Wellington Tianjin authorised as a “Microsoft Showcase School”

During the signing ceremony to recognise Microsoft Showcase School status at Wellington College International Tianjin on December 18, 2019, the two sides jointly signed the Microsoft Showcase School cooperation agreement and held a licensing ceremony. Larry Nelson, General Manager, Asia Regional Business Lead, Education, Microsoft Corporation, Feifei Qian, Education, General Manager of Microsoft Greater China, Rick Wang, Educational Marketing Development & Business Director, Microsoft, Greater China, Hong Luo, Educational Marketing Business Development Director, Microsoft, Greater China and Mr Julian Jeffrey, Master of Wellington College International Tianjin, Director of Information Technology, Matt Lind, of Wellington College China and Ms Julia Ji, Bursar of Wellington College International Tianjin attended the signing ceremony.

Wellington College International Tianjin was selected as the first international school in China to sign up as a Microsoft Showcase School. This cooperation with Microsoft will help the College to develop comprehensive programmes with technical advantages, and to integrate collaborative projects through academic development and classroom teaching, further creating a diversified learning environment. Julian Jeffrey, Master of Wellington College International Tianjin, stated: “Wellington College International Tianjin, as the first overseas school of Wellington College in the UK which is also a Microsoft Showcase School, upholds the same core values of our sister school. With our longstanding educational philosophy of innovation through technology, we regularly organize exchanges and visits between teachers and students, through academic programmes and classroom teaching to garner greater cooperation. This cooperation with Microsoft on innovative education will certainly benefit our school to create an immersive teaching environment, stimulate teachers' educational enthusiasm and cultivate further our international vision for all.” Larry Nelson, General Manager of Education for Microsoft Asia Pacific, said: “Over the years, Microsoft has rooted itself in local education, while also being committed to international education, through our own technical advantages and educational information practice, we strive to cultivate institutions with excellent comprehensive abilities to support students. This cooperation opens a new "door" in the field of Microsoft's innovative learning, and we look forward to the future "Microsoft Showcase School" projects and welcoming more outstanding institutions to provide realistic operational solutions and relevant professional advice for future educational ideas.” Deep collaboration in the future to create a new learning space Wellington College China is committed to creating an international community by developing students with strong values who can adapt to the ever-changing global environment.  This cooperation will allow students to do just that by integrating technology into their learning environment through Microsoft's suite of services for greater collaboration to create the classroom of the future today. In order to guide and cultivate students' interest in learning, the cooperation will also see the introduction of Microsoft's 3D visual programming platform and integrated 3D creative programming,  further development in artificial intelligence programming will also be added across the curriculum. The cooperation between the two sides aims to improve the interaction of teaching in the classroom through professional and integrated solutions, and to cultivate and enhance the information technology ability in the schools everyday teaching and learning. In the future, the Microsoft Showcase School programme will also expand cooperation with the College on Artificial Intelligence through Interactive Labs, and other future projects which will be launched in the coming years. In the cooperation between the two sides, the Microsoft Showcase School Project will continue to provide innovative teaching models and advanced teaching and technical services for teachers and students to create a new model of efficient and interactive educational learning environments which will open up a digital transformation in education of unlimited possibilities. Students will have access to the world's leading technology, for future academic, employment and entrepreneurship, giving them a solid foundation in this globally competitive world.
