Wellington College Tianjin – Campus Epidemic Prevention

11 Feb 2020
Campus Epidemic Prevention within Hongqiao district The outbreak and stories of the coronavirus have touched the hearts of millions, not only in China but around the world. At the start of the outbreak in Wuhan, the school acted immediately with the leadership and staff to actively undertake key measures. With the ongoing spread of the epidemic, the school set up an emergency team for epidemic prevention, paying close attention to the development of the epidemic and strictly complying with the notification and requirements of relevant state health departments. To formulate and implement campus preventative measures, we have put plans in place to ensure the safety of the Wellington community and to protect the health of our pupils and staff. Key Measures 1 Make timely statistics on the health status and travel status of all faculty and staff, long-term vendors and our pupils, and continue screening, prevention and control; track and confirm the return date of those who are not in Tianjin. 2 Ensure the smooth communication from the school, and send timely updates and information to the staff and parent community.

Multi-language, multi-channel communication

3 Implement campus closure regulations, close the underground garage, gymnasium, theater and other indoor venues and facilities, prohibit all individuals to enter the campus except authorised and screened campus staff.

Campus patrol

4 Employees and property management staff are required to wear masks to enter school premises, take and report daily temperature test. 5 Daily cleaning, disinfection and ventilation are carried out in an orderly manner. 6 Timely storage of materials, including disinfection; in the school entrance, installation of temperature infrared detection equipment. Increase the disinfection reserves (hand sanitizer, disinfectant, etc.), health protection supplies (electronic forehead temperature equipment, medical gloves, goggles, masks, etc.) 7 Create a complete pre-school preparation plan and post-school prevention and control plan. As before, the best advice is to protect oneself from the virus by adopting these straightforward means:
  • Wear a mask that protects you from germs
  • Wash hands regularly
  • Avoid anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms
  • Cover the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing
  • Thoroughly cook meat and eggs
  • Avoid unprotected contact with live wild or farm animals
  • Avoid unnecessary travel to Wuhan or Hubei province
