(emma.shi@wellingtoncollege.cn) PARENTS’ BRIEFING: ASSESSMENT AT WELLINGTON  0900-1030hrs Wednesday 29th August  Every Wednesday morning from 0900-1030hrs, parents will have the chance to engage with the school in sessions that cover all aspects of your child’s education, from the Early Years to A Levels and university admissions. The venue will vary according to the anticipated audience, and for next week’s meeting, parents will have an important briefing on Assessment and Reporting from Mrs Dragana Popovic, the Head of Senior School and Mr Raja Ali, the Head of Junior School. Please notice that the Senior School Briefing is in the Common Room, the Junior School Briefing is in the Theatre and parents from Eaglets to Reception will have the briefing in the Nest. Parents’ Briefings on Assessment and Reporting across the school will be held on Wednesday, 29th August (0900hrs start). If you would like to know more about this topic, please join us. Parents’ understanding of the data and reports we produce for each child is very important because it will provide information on where your child is and where we anticipate he/she will be at the end of the Key Stage. Also, it will provide information about current progress and areas for development and improvement identified by their teachers, which is crucial for the child’s academic performance and success. Chinese and Korean translations during the event will be provided. Parents from Year 1 to Year 6 please go to the Theatre to discuss Age Related Expectations, how they are used to plan and assess, and the grading used to assess the children progress and attainment expectations over the year. FROM THE DEPUTY HEAD During the summer holiday, our school welcomed a group of children from English Drama Talent Competition – ‘Dream Theatre’. The programme is hosted by Tianjin TV station science and educational channel (TJTV 6). The candidates had a wonderful summer camp in our school, practising and rehearsing for their final performance at Tianjin TV station. Meanwhile, a group of our talented Year 7 pupils were invited to perform a Chinese traditional dance ‘Qing Hua Ci’ as the opening dance for the final show. Led by Ms. Lucia Wang, our pupils had been practising hard in order to showcase the best of Wellington College in Tianjin. The show will be broadcast on TJTV 6 at 1855hrs, August 26th, Sunday. We hope you all will watch and enjoy it then.
