MEET THE MASTER Common Room 1400hrs-1515hrs Thursday 21st June This week, the Meet the Master slot is aimed at parents of pupils in Years 7 to 11. If you would like to attend, please confirm via email with Ms. Emma Shi by Wednesday 20th June.(emma.shi@wellingtoncollege.cn) Chinese Culture Show Theatre 1420hrs-1530hrs, Tuesday 19th June We are pleased to invite the artists and performers from Tianjin Opera and Dance Theatre to present a wonderful Chinese traditional dance and music show to our pupils from Year 4 to Year 12. There will be classical dance, drama excerpts and instrumental performances, along with two performances by some Year 11 and Year 12 pupils. Please come along and enjoy! Nest: Stay and Play 0930hrs-1100hrs Friday 22nd June We will have our final Stay and Play for this term. This is a wonderful opportunity for children who will begin their journey in the Early Years in August 2018 to experience life in the Nest. New parents will also have a chance to attend a briefing on how best to support their children as they transition to school life at Wellington. ASA in the Senior and Junior School This week marks the end of ASA for this academic year with the last day of ASA in the Senior and Junior School on Thursday June 21st. It has truly been a pleasure to watch all of our pupils, both young and old, develop their skills and passion in so many different areas. Details regarding the ASA programme for next academic year will be published shortly; I hope you encourage your children to try some different activities for the coming academic year. House Rounders' Week (Years 1-6) Sports Centre 1330hrs-1515hrs Wednesday 20th June Next week will witness the Junior School's annual House Rounders’ Week. Pupils from across the Junior School will compete against each other in their PE lessons in a bid to claim the 'Rounders Cup' for their House. This event is a great way for the pupils to demonstrate the skills they have acquired over the past few weeks in a supportive environment, and in a meaningful way. Assembly:Year 6 Graduation Theatre 1330hrs-1600hrs Friday 22nd June Friday 22nd June sees our Year 6 completed their journey through the Junior School with a graduation event in the Seldon Theatre. This will be an opportunity for every member of the cohort to say goodbye to the pupils and staff that have formed the backdrop to their primary years. It promises to bean entertaining event with many musical items to look forward to. The event will start promptly at 1400hrs so please try to take your seats by 1350hrs. Following the graduation, there will be a reception for parents and pupils in the courtyard opposite the 6B classroom. Milepost 3: Exit Point 1400hrs-1530hrs Tuesday 19th June Milepost 3 will be putting parents through a 'boot camp' style fitness hour as part of the exit point for their unit - Fit for Life. There will be a wide variety of keep fit videos playing in each of the four classrooms during the afternoon. Invitations to this event have already gone out with pupils, but if you did not receive yours please feel free to attend: all Year 5 and 6 parents are welcome! Year 7 and Year 8 Science Trip to Tianjin Haichang Polar Ocean World 0830hrs-1530hrs Friday 22nd June We will depart the school at 0830hrs and return by 1530hrs.The trip is designed to educate and inspire pupils about the connection between land and water and to study the various conditions and species found under water. This will be agreat learning experience for our students and subsequent discussions and presentations on various topics will be done in science classes as a follow up of this trip. Mandarin Lecture: Further Reading in Mandarin Common Room 0900hrs-1200hrs Saturday 23rd June Mr. Zhang Long, the Head teacher of Beijing Fangcao International School whowon the honorary title of National Excellent Teacher and was interviewed by Chairman Xi Jinping, will give a lecture about the reading skills development for Years 1 to 9 students who speak Chinese as their first language. This event was inspired by some of the Year 6 mums who felt that they would like to create a chance to exchange ideas on topics other than kids and the school’s daily routine. Here is what we will do: reading books over two or three weeks, then sharing ideas and listening to feedback from each other over two or three hours. Let’s make this Reading Group a special moment. Positive Parenting Class (Language in Chinese) MB125 0930hrs - 1130hrs every Monday Charges: 30RMB/time  Positive Discipline is a programme designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities. Lower Level EAL Class MB 235 0830hrs - 0930hrs every Tuesday  This class is for beginner level learners who would like to improve their grammar, vocabulary and all-round language skills. Higher Level EAL Class MB 231 1100hrs - 1200hrs every Thursday This class is for more confident learners who would like to extend their grammar and vocabulary and will have a focus on improving spoken fluency. MB125 1000hrs - 1100hrs every Tuesday Mandarin We are holding a Mandarin practice group to help foreign parents living in China. We will use different scenarios to help you speak in different situations. We will also explore local customs and practices. We welcome those who have some experience in PinYin. Pilates Dance Studio 0900hrs - 1000hrs every Tuesday 0930hrs - 1030hrs every Friday Pilates is physical exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates.
