Transition Week
As a part of our efforts to ease the transition between year levels, children in the Nest will be visiting their prospective classes next week in preparation for the next academic year. They will get a chance to meet the staff, familiarise themselves with the environment and experience routines and expectations. Here are some tips you can use to support your child with any moving up ‘jitters’ they may have:
1. Talk about the transition week at home and have your children get excited about the new experiences and possibilities in their new class.
2. Read books about going to school and saying goodbye, a few examples are:
The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn
David Goes to School by David Shannon
Will I Have a Friend? by Miriam Cohen
First Day of School by Anne Rockwell
When I Miss You by Cornelia Maude Spelman
Take a Kiss to School by Angela McAllister
It’s Time for Preschool by Esme Raj Codell
A Pocketful of Kisses by Audrey Penn
3. Get a chance to know your child’s new teacher and other parents in the class.

Year 6/7 Transition Days
Wednesday and Thursday
13th and 14th June
We are looking forward to welcoming our future Year 7 pupils into the Senior School on Wednesday and Thursday next week.
These unique days offer our Year 6 pupils the opportunity to orientate themselves within the Senior School, as well as have the opportunity to meet their teachers.
Each student will be provided with a timetable to follow for the two days with a range of lessons to try, including ones that they have chosen for themselves.
Students will be expected in their House rooms by 0815hrs on these two mornings – if they are unsure where these are, they can ask their class teacher or speak to me. They will also be having break and lunch at Senior School times on these days.
We are also delighted to be able to include a Mandarin Culture Showcase into the induction programme. Pupils will be presenting their work to one another during Period 5 on Thursday.
If you have any questions or concerns about these two days, or about any of the transition processes, please contact me by email:

Yoga has become very popular all around the world for its healing benefits. Doesn’t matter if you are new to yoga or regular practitioner, everyone is welcome.
