It is a great pleasure for staff and pupils to be welcoming so many parents in school for our seasonal end of term events. Yesterday afternoon’s vibrant Christmas Fair was a delightful example of the community coming together, both in celebration as well as appreciation of our pupils’ music and artistic talents, as well as sharing the joy of the season – often referred to as the Season of Goodwill.
‘Goodwill’ is a term very much worthy of reflection. It goes to the heart of the sprit in which we approach our relationships, with our families, our community, society, and even ourselves. It is fundamentally linked to a positive outlook on life, and not just a ‘mind-set’ but also we might say a ‘heart-set’. It should be intrinsic to the application of our Wellington values, and as such should not be an attribute confined to just a few weeks a year. Goodwill is a key pastoral ethic for all pupils and staff throughout the year, also central to our application of our anti-bullying approaches, and a principle we should encourage at all times for our community.
As we go to press pupils and staff are greatly looking forward to our Nest performance for parents yesterday, to our Junior School performance today, and to our end of term Concert on Monday, all taking place in the Seldon Theatre.
