Internationalism week: The Power of Debate

04 May 2021

As part of Internationalism Week, KS3 and KS4 were involved in house debates across 4 prep sessions. Altogether there were 10 debates involving 20 house teams of 3 pupils each. The motions debated were also very resonant with important international topics such as democracy, the internet, climate change and vegetarianism. The debate format was drawn from the World Scholars Cup and focused on presentation, strategy and content while also rewarding effective teamwork. Debating is such critical life skill and the progress made by the teams through being able to learn from each other each day was notable. The winners of the house debates in both KS3 and KS4 were the Orange and Wellesley. Many thanks to Ms Shen for chairing the debates, to tutors for helping pupils prepare and to all the tutees who participated.
