Year 5 Shanghai Trip
05 May 2019
//Day 1
There was an air of excitement as the Year 5 students boarded the bus this morning, to begin their trip to Shanghai. After getting on the train safely, students sat back and relaxed. It was a comfortable journey, filled with snacks, naps and quiet conversations with friends.
When we reached Shanghai, we were warmly welcomed by our tour guide, and the students were dazzled by the lights of the city on our quick bus ride to the hotel.
Soon after we reached our hotel, we tucked into a delicious buffet dinner.
After their day of traveling, the students were then more than happy to shower, call their parents and jump into bed. We're looking forward to seeing the full force of spring in Shanghai tomorrow!
//Day 2· The Shanghai Tower, cruise along the Bund
Today was a long and busy day. The children were woken early for a hearty breakfast before our journey around different tourist sites in the metropolis that is Shanghai!
The first stop was The Shanghai Tower and the Observation Deck - 546m high. Our ears popped as we whizzed up in the fastest elevators in the world, up to the Observation Deck which is 546m high. We peered down at the people on the ground with one of the children noting that those on the ground looked like ants.
After a tour around the 118th (and 119th) floor, and looking down at the world below, we filled our bellies and headed to the Science and Technology museum to explore a myriad of exciting things. From dancing robots, to animals of the African savannah; from learning more astronaut skills to shooting goals to learn more about the human body - the children were kept very busy for the whole of the afternoon.
A brief pit stop later and we embarked on our cruise along the Bund. It was a crisp night after a warm. Sweaters were finally brought out of bags and the children watched the lights of Shanghai come out as day passed into night. It was wonderful that the children got to see the Shanghai Tower lit up and all were amazed that they’d actually been to the top earlier in the day.
Today was very busy and I’m sure the children will sleep soundly despite the excitement of thinking about tomorrow. It was a sea of smiles along the Huangpu River to finish off the day.
