We were very pleased to welcome nearly 60 universities, art colleges, hospitality schools and liberal arts colleges from 4 continents to our biggest International University Fair yet. Overall the event saw 800 students and parents visit the College which is fast becoming the go-to educational institution in Tianjin for tertiary guidance. Offering expert advice for both International and local students wishing to travel abroad for the next stage of their study, the College takes great care to match, compare and evaluate the right fit for both pupil and university through our university guidance programme.
Pupils and parents were given the opportunity to listen to presentations from the University of Nottingham & the University of East Anglia (UK), the University of Queensland (AUS) and Rochester Institute of Technology (US). This valuable experience gives a real insight into the subtle differences which may come into play when tailoring applications to a particular country or when submitting applications to multiple countries.
As well as the visitors we had on the day, we are pleased to have received visits from a further 12 universities since, including some big names such as the University of Manchester and the University of British Columbia. We anticipate many more visitors over the coming months and have been promised a visit by University College London in the new year after so many of our Year 12 pupils attended their International Summer School in London.
As we begin November, the first wave of Early Decision and Early Action applications will have been sent to the US, our potential Oxford applicant is preparing for his aptitude tests and we are sending off the first wave of UCAS applications. The Year 13 pupils continue to working harder than ever and our Year 12 pupils are looking into summer schools, work experience, internships or other opportunities which will really help their applications shine next year.
The 6th Form team is, as always, here to assist in any way possible and should you have any questions then feel free to contact Mrs Sabio, Mr Batey or Ms LuYi.

Pupils commented:
The Wellington University Fair is truly an amazing opportunity for students who are preparing to set foot into colleges and universities around the world, it was an engaging and helpful event that I recommend all students to attend. --Dawn, Year 13 The University Fair offers a really great opportunity to explore a variety of schools with unique origins, which I can learn about. This helps widen my view and knowledge about different universities so that students, like me, can make the best decision for the future. --Harry, Year 13
We had also received good comments from the university representatives:
Thanks for your great organization and it was my fourth time attending your university fair this year. It was great to meet your students, they are very polite and positive and I was happy to meet some students who are very keen on our university. Looking forward to coming back again next year. --Patty Wang Queen Mary University of London (UK) The fair was well-organised, and instantly opened up a conversation for Wellington students with superb tertiary education providers around the world. UQ's presence was highlighted throughout the talk with students and parents. I realised that how they put effort and time to discover different programs and search for the right university experience was really a sign of their intensely inquisitive minds. --William Ye University of Queensland (AUS)
