A Classroom without Walls
24 Oct 2018
On Thursday 11th October, 36 pupils of KS3 have been to a day trip to the Korean Cultural Center in Beijing this is part of our classroom without walls programme, where pupils have the chance to undertake research on fieldtrip style projects. Pupils had a short but inspiring opportunity to view part of Korean culture in Beijing and reflected on the trip in several post learning activities. Here we highlight some of the thoughts and ideas our pupils learned from this wonderful educational visit.
“On the trip, we visited the Korean Cultural Center in Beijing. First watching a video about famous dancers from Korea and their different styles. The video showed dance performances and lectures by B-boy, a street dancer, a modern dancer and a Korean traditional dancer. The dancers also spoke about their dreams, jobs and lives, which were interesting and inspiring.
After lunch, we divided into two groups. We looked at famous literature in the library of the center and while other did a wonderful drawing and colouring activity. We looked around the center and some of us had an opportunity to put on Hanbok which is traditional Korean dress. We enjoyed the trip very much.” - Aiden, Year 9
“I want to thank you all of the teachers and pupils that went on the trip to the Korean cultural Centre. It was very happy and motivating trip. I think every teacher and pupil who went enjoyed the trip very much.” – Daniel, Year 7
“I enjoyed the Korean trip. My favourite part was watching the movie about dance styles as it was interesting and entertaining. It was fun to try on the traditional dresses (Hanbok). The trip was fun and a great opportunity to learn about Korean culture.” – Scarlett, Year 9
“The Korean culture trip was my very first insight of Korean culture. I was very impressed, by how preserved Korean culture is, especially clothing and traditional dance. It was good to know that you can have access to amazing culture so very close to us in Beijing. It was fantastic weather to travel and the trip made me inspired to learn more.” – Crispin, Year 8
