"It was all very funny but beneath the surface..."
With the Black Box Theatre turned into "Benson's Bar", food and drinks courtesy of Café Corner, students from the senior school set about bringing Jim Cartwright's text of Two to Tianjin. For many of the students it was their first time auditioning for a drama production, but you would not have been able to see that in the performances that had audiences in fits of laughter then flipping them with horror. As one first time actress relived her son's tragic death the audience were touched by her tears, complementing them with tears of their own.
The young actors and actresses, ranged from Yr 7 to Yr 13, with a cameo appearance of a student from the Junior school each night. Their performances were touching though - filled with energy and focus. It had been a long journey since they had auditioned for their roles but they arrived together at the end, having given sold out audiences a wonderful experience, and each of them is eager for their next dramatic exploit. And judging by their reactions, so are their audiences...
"Fantastic performances by everyone...."
