Culture Trip to Wu Da Dao

26 Sep 2016
Culture Trip to Wu Da Dao

To further develop the learning of mandarin and to explore the richness of traditional Chinese culture, the Mandarin Department organized a Chinese cultural trip for our senior native Chinese level, pupils at Wu Da Dao in September.

The trip was designed to inspire pupils and make them aware of local culture and history. Tianjin has a rich cultural heritage, Its wonderful mix of western and eastern architecture reflects its unique and colorful historical past. Fortunately, with Tianjin having one of the largest European Concessions in China, this mixture can still be viewed within the city today, with most of these architectural styles being seen in Wu Da Dao.

Students viewed the documentary film Wu Da Dao made by CCTV9 in Mandarin before the trip, to know more about the historical cultural and contextual background. This also fitted nicely with their previous project, the modern drama Sunrise, which had a very similar related theme.
