In a world of pure imagination - Roald Dahl Day in Wellington College International Tianjin
On 13th September we celebrated 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl - the famous British novelist and poet, and one of the greatest storytellers of children's literature.
In memory of the popular writer, our students at Wellington College in the Junior School dressed up as their favorite Dahl’s character. During the day, we met: Matilda, Miss Honey, Charlie, Veruca, Violet or Willy Wonka with his tickets to the Chocolate Factory. We were able to try a spoon from the bottle of George’s magic medicine and we had a chance to check how dangerous real witches could be.
Junior students were invited to the library to engage in literacy based Roald Dahl activities, and share their love of his books. It was a great opportunity for them to discuss the many secrets of Dahl’s writing: his inventive, playful use of language; sense of humor, incredible imagination – which are the way to win the hearts of young readers. And even more – his respect and fondness towards children who are always able to win even in the world full of evil as long as they have good hearts.
The celebration of Roald Dahl Day was proof that his stories continue to bring big enjoyment to children throughout the world.
