Milepost Two in Fashion Show
06 Sep 2016
Pupils in the Junior School at Wellington College International Tianjin recently hosted their own Fashion Show, acting as their Entry Point to the topic 'Fashion' as part of the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). Year 4 teacher Oli Fowler explains more about the learning outcomes of the exercise:
"Milepost Two kicked off our Fashion topic last Monday 29th August with a vibrant and diverse Fashion Show. Children exhibited an incredible range of designs from popular culture such as Frozen, Star Wars, Spiderman, Iron Man, Minions, Snow White, and many more. The catwalk also played host to a number of wonderful cultural outfits from China, Korea and India, as well as some interesting mix ‘n’ match arrangements cobbled together from the depths of people’s wardrobes.
The children took to the catwalk in pairs to show off their outfits and competed for “bragging rights” based on their individual fashion style and “moves on the catwalk”. To add to the already colourful designs, there were also some incredibly professional and unique ‘catwalking’ styles; who knows, perhaps Milepost Two has some fashion designers and models in the making?"
This topic will be the area of focus for the next 7 weeks and will culminate in a Fashion Exhibition that will allow pupils to share their own designs and creations with the entire College community.
