Charity Summer Fair at Wellington College International Tianjin

Come rain, come shine, once again Wellington College produced a spectacular annual Summer Fair celebration, attended by over 3000 Tianjin and NE China residents. Despite the damp conditions, this signature event hosted a huge range of exciting activities, with unflagging support from parents and staff at Wellington College. Over 150 outdoor tents offered traditional games from all over the world, with tasty home-cooked foods and drinks provided by parents and local vendors. Performances lasted throughout the day, beginning with traditional Tianjin Stilt Walkers, and coming to a close with a Raffle Draw that offered over 180 prizes donated by a range of supporting groups and institutions. The Secret Garden and Great Green Outdoors offered something for all ages, all within the safe environment of Tianjin’s most community-focused international school. The event was held in support of the School’s chosen charity China Hearts Foundation (共铸中国心) - a government-endorsed charitable organisation that works to improve healthcare and provide medical treatment for provinces in west China and ethnic minorities. As elected by the Student Council at Wellington College, the Summer Fair was yet another initiative that enabled the community to support this cause, with parents, performers and local suppliers all making donations to the foundation. The Summer Fair marked the conclusion of the inaugural Fringe Festival at Wellington College International Tianjin, with Music for a Summer’s Evening and 2016 Art Exhibition having been tremendous successes during the previous evening in the Black Box and Seldon Theatre.
