Stanley House Assembly on the 400th Anniversary of William Shakespeare’s Death
22 Apr 2016
The Stanley House presented an inclusive and thought-provoking assembly celebrating the life of England’s greatest playwright and poet. Weaved across a presentation of the Bard’s life were a variety of student inspired interpretations including:
- A cross-gender skit on the plot of Romeo and Juliet by Year 7
- A comparison of Hip Hop lyrics with Shakespeare’s sonnets concluding with a performance of Sonnet XVIII in Hip Hop style by Year 9
- An original and humorous student created scene composed entirely from Shakespearean insults!
- Soliloquies from Hamlet and Macbeth performed by siblings in Year 10 and Year 8
- A CSF 1 soprano duet of Taylor Swift’s Love Story (Romeo and Juliet) with unplugged accompaniment on guitar and drums.
