Milepost 1: “So That’s How It’s Done!”

In collaboration with our catering provider, Compass, Milepost 1 got a behind-the-scenes tour of the operations of our school kitchen. As part of our new, International Primary Curriculum unit, We Are What We Eat, children need to understand how their food is prepared and all the organization this involves. Some could be overheard, gasping the following comments: “Wow, I didn’t know ovens could be that big!” “Look at that huge rice steamer!” In addition, at our recent assembly, children got to interview one of the kitchen chefs. In response to some excellent questions by our Year 1 and 2 children, the chef concluded that although his job was hard work, he loved learning how to make foods for people from all over the world, just like at Wellington College International, Tianjin. Many more interesting food revelations lie ahead in this exciting six week unit. Watch this space!
