Milepost 1 Have been on “Holiday” for Eight Weeks
…well, not really! Holidays are special days when we take a rest from school and work. Our holidays in the past were very different from holidays of today. Now that we can travel to all parts of the world and even space, who knows where we will go on holiday in the future? Over the last seven weeks, Milepost 1 have explored holidays, past and present and imagined what future holidays might be like.
In our Geography tasks we found out about places people go on holiday; what they wear; the things they do and how tourism can spoil holidays.
It was fascinating comparing and contrasting holidays in the past with today’s holidays. In our Art tasks, we made sand art pictures and clay holiday souvenirs. This was great fun. We even made our very own holiday museum.
In Computing, we used Google Earth and mapping software to explore our local area as well as our home and adoptive countries. Importantly, we learnt how to stay safe whilst on holidays.
The highlight of the unit was visiting the Tianjin Eye as real tourists. Wow, the view from up there was fabulous!
This unit, Hooray…let’s go on holiday! was filled with great learning and a lot of fun.
