Y12 Shenzhen Trip
The entire Y12 class, IB and CSF2, traveled to Shenzhen from September 20-25 for a week of group bonding, team building, personal challenge, and adventure. Accompanied by Mr. Mark Service, Miss Clare Gilmartin, Mrs. Stephanie Edgley, and Mr. James Robinson, 28 students engaged in a variety of individual and group activities and challenges that took them outside of their familiar surroundings and usual zones of comfort. They planted a community garden for a local youth centre, went on a coastal hike with spectacular views of the South China Sea, and they cooked their own meals and slept in tents during a night out on the beach. They sampled local cuisine, went mountain biking, surfing, and swimming in the sea, and they learned to work together and rely on each other throughout it all. Despite having started the week as a somewhat fragmented mix of individuals and small friendship groups, these students returned to WCIT as a cohesive and tight-knit class, more aware of each other and ready to take on the challenges that await them over the next two years together, as a team.
