ISCOT swim gala

Wellington hosted their first ISCOT swim gala on 6th May. After strong performances in inter house it was a chance for a select number of students from year 4-6 to compete against other swimmers from IST and TEDA. Squads of 8 were picked from each year group, with separate girls and boys events. All students who had selected swimming as an after school activity were involved in the squads, other swimmers were selected based on their performance in lessons and house competitions. Joseph Lloyd in year 4 had a day to remember picking up a number of gold medals in both the 20 metre and 40 metre races. Mandy Xu and Rose Lee also swam well in a competitive year 6 field and collected gold's and silver. The team relay teams performed well in all age groups and collected many gold's, showing excellent team work throughout. Leo Zhang put in a first class performance, earning gold in every event he entered. It was an enjoyable event to be involved in and credit must go to the students for all the hard work they have put into swimming with their coaches and teachers. Every student made a valuable contribution to Wellington's team score. Thanks must also be extended to the CAS students and Bella Hatch for helping with the running of the events. When the scores were added up Wellington had emerged as the overall winner. Just rewards for the effort they have put in.
