Milepost 3 - Science Behind Fairgrounds
The final term of the year promises to be an exciting one for the students in Milepost 3, as they learn about the science behind fairgrounds. The unit started with the students watching a video of the “Top 10 rollercoasters in the world!” and it was safe to say that the loops and drops made everybody feel a bit queasy. The students were then faced with the task of creating their own fairground ride using materials in the classroom. It was an interesting (and messy) task but the students ended up with some spectacular rides.
This week we have been using marbles and ramps to simulate a ‘loop the loop’. The children were then tasked with explaining the science behind the loop to the rest of the class. It is certainly going to be a fun end of the year!
