Girls Football Match Report
Girls Football v IST. 23rd March
The senior girls football team put in a very good performance against the International School of Tianjin. Games between us and them are always close affairs, and this proved no different. The final score was 1-0 to IST. Wellington had a number of chances but seemed unable to get the ball in the net.
It was an excellent game, played in the right spirit. Many thanks to Mr Fowler for being referee and to Ms Wei for coaching the side.
High School Football vs Maple Leaf. 24th March
The senior girls football team pulled of a 6-0 victory against a newly formed Maple Leaf side. Wellington started brightly with striker Katie Kim scoring directly from a corner. Billie Archer then added another after good approach play by the girls. Billie, Subin and Katie scored further goals to build up a commanding lead. The Maple Leaf players were not short on athleticism or endeavor, but it was evident that the Wellington players had played a lot more football as a team. Whenever Maple Leaf did get forward the defensive force of Clair, Jane, Ally and Chelsea repelled the attack at source. As the game progressed Wellington attacked more and more and were awarded 2 penalties for hand ball in the area. Credit must go to the Maple Leaf goal keeper who made excellent saves both time. Billie Archer came close to scoring the goal of the season when her fierce strike on the turn smashed the crossbar. Daniella wrapped the game up with a beat finish at the end.
Well done to all the players, it was a good match played with an excellent spirit.
Thanks to Maple Leaf and Mr Fowler for referring. Tanks also to Ms Wei for coaching the team all year.
