Senior Boys Football
TEDA School invited Wellington High School to be the first team to play on their new asto turf in a game of Football. Many staff from TEDA turned up on the Friday afternoon to witness a classic game of Senior football between two good, physical sides. Wellington started brightly and it wasn't long before they scored. JaeWook Ahn putting the ball in the back of the net after neat work from Cheol Min Chae and ChanYoung Jo. TEDA managed to get a foot hold in the game after this and put Wellington under a lot of pressure. TEDA had some skilful players in the attacking areas, and they exploited Wellington lack of shape and managed to grab two quick goals to put them 2-1 ahead. A tactical change was made, and young Sam Lee in year 9 came on in the demanding position of centre back. His defensive instincts gave Wellington more confidence and they started to create more chance. Gap student James Burnett and JaeBin Hwang started to get a grip of the midfield battle and chances were created and dispatched for Cheol Min CHae, ChanYoung Jo and James Burnett. JaeWook Ahn also grabbed another goal and impressed in the second half with his close control and ability on the ball. At one stage Wellington were 6-2 up and looking good for an easy win. TEDA showed what a good side they were with 2 late goals as Wellington lost concentration at the back. Wellington managed to hold out in the end thanks to some resolute defending from YeongJin Kim.
Wellington should be pleased with the way they performed and hopefully this win will spur them on with clashes with TIS, IST and Maple Leaf just around the corner.
