MILEPOST 1 (Years 1 and 2) BRING TO AN END THEIR Let’s Celebrate unit WITH CHRISTMAS CHEER!

11 Jan 2016

Milepost 1 children have been on a whirlwind learning journey, inquiring into the myriad of ways societies from all around the world celebrate significant life events. The IPC (International Primary Curriculum), Let’s Celebrate, culminated in what is known as an exit point, which took place at the St. Regis Hotel on 10th and 11th December 2014. The exit point has two main purposes. First, to help children pull together their learning from the unit, and second, to celebrate the learning that has taken place. Our Christmas party at the St. Regis did just that. Children experienced all the special symbols, decorations, food and general significance of celebrating Christmas, but were reminded that this represented only one cultural/religious manifestation. We all had a lovely day, sharing Christmas cheer and wonderful food. Even Santa Claus popped in with a few special goodies. You will be able to read more about our Let’s Celebrate learning journey in our next school newsletter. Happy Holidays everyone, from children and staff of Milepost 1!
