Iceland Trip
During the final week of the summer term, a group consisting of eighteen senior school students and three teaching staff from Wellington College International Tianjin packed their bags and left for a week of learning how to survive…in Iceland!
Travelling along the Atlantic coastline, the students were experienced to the wonders of the land of fire and ice – hiking on glaciers, bathing in geothermal baths, horse-riding across the grassy meadows, taking boat trips on glacial lagoons, to name but a few excursions. Aside from the pureness of nature, students were introduced to Icelandic history and culture with a visit to Althing.
The trip was hugely successful, and a great deal of thanks must go to our new Director of Studies – Mr. Gudmundur Jonsson – a native Icelander, and former Director of Excavations at the National Museum of Iceland.
