Mexican Food Cooking for Spanish learning pupils

11 Jan 2016

In order to make our pupils aware of the cultural features reflected in the foreign language they have been learning , the Spanish department invited one of the Wellington parents into school to give pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 a cooking lesson on Mexican food.

They started by making an ancient Aztec drink called Chia which has lemon, sugar and some special seeds. The second task was to make sopes which are like mini maize pancakes with lettuce, cheese, beans, chicken and a spicy Mexican sauce called salsa verde.

All in all everyone was very envious of Dani and Mikey, who are lucky enough to live with such a great cook!  Gracias Claudia for making this class on food so interesting and tasty!
