Year 7 Geography Fieldtrip
On Thursday 27th March, Year 7 students visited the Tianjin Museum and Urban Planning Exhibition Centre as part of their study of Settlements in Geography. The focus of the day was “Tianjin – past, present and future”. At the Tianjin Museum, students studied the prehistoric landscape of northeast China, focusing on how past societies lived in an environment where the coastline was much further inland than today. Students also studied the medieval settlement of Tianjin Wei (fort), and how the size and function has changed through to the modern day. The Urban Planning Exhibition Centre gave students the opportunity to stroll around a vast model of the modern city of Tianjin (at a scale of 1:750), and to see models of future urban development zones, such as the Eco-city out near TEDA.
