Junior School Maths Week

11 Jan 2016

The Junior School held its annual Maths Week on the 17th February on the name of The Winter Olympics. All sorts of Maths activities were planned, from collecting data about different medal winners and countries, to hosting their own events and recording results. The Early Years children were investigating shapes and made their own flags. Key Stage 1 held their own mini-Olympics, making  toboggans and timing racing them down the slide, as well as cross-country skiing, shooting and jumping. All the results can be found in the display in the Atrium.

Years 3 and 6 worked together to research people’s favourite sports as well as compare how different countries had done.

Years 4 took the opportunity to go ice-skating. They were seeing how fast they could skate and recorded their results in charts and graphs.

Year 5 held a mix of events over different days. The children performed different sports for their countries and kept a chart of their own medal winners. They ended their events with some figure skating at the local ice rink!

The results of their work will be on display in the Atrium for another week.
