Year 4 – Rainforest Radio
The year 4 pupils have been excitable, busy bees this term, putting their all into their topic on rainforests. They are only part way through the topic, but have already followed some very mature lines of inquiry, resulting in some fantastic work.
One piece that Year 4 pupils are particularly proud of is their ‘RAINFOREST RADIO SHOW’. After sharing their prior understanding of radio, they realised there were some significant gaps in our knowledge so they invited radio expert, Mr Gerrard, into their classroom to answer their burning questions. They then went about planning and scripting their show.
They decided their show would link with their topic, specifically focussing on ‘DEFORESTATION’. They included a debate, a news report, a charitable advert, an interview, a play and even a rainforest piece of music (assisted by Mr Roundell). Once scripted, Mr Gerrard kindly returned to help us record and edit our show.
It was a long process, but the finished piece is something they will always be proud of. Please take some time to listen to them in action – you won’t believe these children are only in year 4!
