Senior Inter-house Badminton Competition
We held our Annual House Badminton Competition at the end of last term and as usual the standard was very high. All four houses were fully represented and a total of 64 students took part. The competition was organised as a round robin tournament with the House who accumulated the most points being the overall winner. Within each match there were five games of a mixture between singles and doubles, with a maximum of 75 points available for each match. The groups were divided into Year 7-9 boys, 7-9 girls, 10-13 boys and 10-13 girls.
The Wellesley girls came out winners in the 7-9 Girls group with some very impressive performances. It was a well fought competition between the Orange and the Stanley houses for the Year 7-9 boys. And the Stanley boys eventually won this category after a number of very tight games. The Year 10-13 girls competition was dominated by the Blucher house who were had a very strong squad. For the boys, the Stanley house were winning very convincingly, despite missing their number one seed.
The Most valuable player awards were awarded to the following students:
Year 7-9 Girls – Billie; Years 7-9 Boys – Elliot; Years 10-13 Girls – Lara; Years 10-13 Boys – Jason
The overall House competition was very close right up to the very last game. All four houses were still mathematically in with a chance, but realistically it came down to last year’s winners the Stanley and The Blucher. The final totals were as follows:
1st – Stanley – 762 Points; 2nd – Blucher – 731 Points; 3rd – Wellesley – 663 Points; 4th – Orange – 643 Points
