Chinese New Year Celebrations at WCIT

11 Jan 2016

In order to bring in the Year of the Horse, students and teachers at Wellington College International Tianjin hosted a whole day of celebrations beginning with a full school assembly in the morning, and concluding with an afternoon of traditional games and House competitions. The assembly – organised by the Mandarin Department, included staff participating in dance routines and Tai Chi, brothers Josh and Jake Ren playing a duet called White and Blue Porcelain (青花瓷) and the Chinese Sixth Form doing their rendition of ‘Wishing you a prosperous New Year’, otherwise known as 恭喜发财. During the afternoon, whilst the Senior School partook in house competitions of Long Rope Skipping and the Tug of War, the Junior School enjoyed the Hoopla and Chinese Paper Cutting, as well as other activities. A wonderful way to end the Year of the Snake!
