Wellington College Tianjin Inter House Football Tournament
On Friday, 11th October, Wellington College International Tianjin hosted its annual inter-house football competition. The Senior School was first to compete with Blucher vs. Orange, followed by Stanley vs. Wellesley in the first round. As the tournament progressed, results and performance pointed towards a likely Blucher and Stanley showdown in the final, though Wellesley and Orange continued to impress with their spirit and ability.
The expected Blucher vs. Stanley final kicked off in spirited fashion, and both sides demonstrated their ability and desire to win. However as the game progressed the ominious likelihood of a penalty shoot-out loomed, and then became a reality. Blucher were successful with their penalty attempts, but Stanley could not get any scores, so Blucher snatched a surprising but well-deserved final victory.

The competition in the Junior School in the afternoon proved to be another colourful affair, with all of the students arriving to the game with their faces painted to match their house. The pupils had a great afternoon with lots of goals being scored. Fraser Elrick had an excellent day, scoring 9 goals in 3 games, part of a Blucher team that were undefeated all afternoon in the Key Stage One group. In the competition in Key Stage 2, Wellesley came out deserved winners, with Captain Ben Cook picking up the most valuable player award.
