Junior School Maths Week: 4th – 8th March
Between 4th and 8th March, the Junior School held its Maths Week. This year, the Junior School took the theme of “World Records”. Each class in Key Stage Two took different weird and wonderful records and re-created them in some way. The Year 4 class was seen walking the corridors with books on their heads, while Year 3 were lying head-to-toe down their corridor and plaiting extremely long hair!
Year 5 had a mini factory going on in their classroom making cubes in an attempt to make a scale model of the world’s largest Rubik’s Cube mosaic. Not to be outdone, Year 6, amongst other things, became car makers and drove the world’s smallest car into the Atrium!
Key Stage One took the theme of ‘Maths through Art’, using shapes to create mathematical pieces of art. The highlight was a very good attempt at making the world’s largest Mondrian art piece on the tennis courts. Their week ended with a Maths trail around the school.
Nursery and Reception classes took the theme of ‘The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff’. They worked hard on making bridges that the troll might have stood on. They used a mixture of different materials to see which they thought might be the best.
All of the hard work culminated in an exhibition in the College Atrium.
