Basketball - Wellington VS Nankai HS
The Wellington College Senior basketball team played their first fixture of the season, away at Nankai High School, one of the top sporting schools inTianjin. The squad have been training hard under Coach Eddie Zakarian and were keen to get into a competitive environment. They soon settled into the game, taking an early lead through a 3-pointer from David Bateman. The game was extremely competitive, though unfortunately Nankai pulled away in the final quarter and came out deserving winners with a 42-22 victory.
It was fantastic to see the Wellington team play in such a competitive match and they were admirably led by Captain Alex Bateman and Vice-Captain John Yu. Although they were up against a very highly rated team, the way all the team kept competing right up until the final whistle was highly commendable.
