The first Wellington College Sports Fixtures
Last week saw the first two competitive friendly fixtures between Wellington College, Tianjin and Tianjin International School, (TIS). On Tuesday, the first game was held at the new TIS campus and the Under 14 basketball teams enjoyed a very close run game. Wellington came out on top in the end with a 25-17 victory. All the squad played well and contributed to the win. The team was led well by Captain William Richter and all the squad contributed to a number of highlights. Jack Lim was the top points scorer for the game, Bill Zhang scored an outstanding 3 pointer and Katie Cook, the only girl on the team, capped a good performance by adding her own two points.
The following day, Wellington hosted its first home fixture, where the senior boys football team were in action against TIS. The first half was a close affair, but the experience of the TIS team showed in the second half as they came out deserving winners, 2-0. However, for Wellingtons first outing they put in a fantastic performance and they showed they have great potential as team. There were a number of outstanding performances including, goalkeeper Maire Bockum Captain. Felix Fowler ran tirelessly for the team all game and Wellington’s man of the match, John Yoo, was outstanding at the back.
