JMid-Autumn Festival Cultural Week

Mid-Autumn
Festival
While the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations have drawn to a close, the spirit of the occasion; a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and creativity that united our entire community lives on in an enduring sense of warmth and community.
Amid the festive buzz, our youngest learners in Early Years and Junior School rolled up their sleeves kneading dough, wrapping fillings, and pressing moulds to craft sweet mooncakes, their giggles as bright as the autumn moon. Through colouring, cutting, and assembling, they brought to life beautiful moon plates and elegant round fans, each creation a testament to their budding creativity.

A highlight was the Chinese Cultural Arts and Crafts Workshop in the Junior School. Armed with vibrant paper, ink brushes, dried flowers, and more, our children crafted traditional masterpieces: lifelike jade rabbit ornaments, exquisitely painted landscape fans, and whimsical rabbit-adorned moon plates. Each piece reflects their deepening appreciation for Chinese culture—ancient traditions reimagined through their skilful hands.

Meanwhile, our Senior School pupils immersed themselves in culturally enriching activities. In Mandarin classes, teachers and pupils explored the festival through lively discussions and quizzes, while the debate arena sparked thoughtful exchanges—bridging tradition and modernity, heritage and innovation. Every speech revealed their reflective engagement with Chinese culture, offering fresh perspectives on the Mid-Autumn spirit.

The celebrations ended with a traditional costume parade. Flowing Hanfu and vibrant ethnic attire adorned our pupils and teachers as they wandered the corridors and playgrounds—as if stepping into an ancient scroll of poetic grace. Each garment whispered a cultural story, transforming our campus into a living tapestry of Chinese heritage.

In every corner of the school, tradition met innovation, and laughter danced with song. More than a reunion under the moon, this Mid-Autumn Festival was a true cultural feast—a chance to savour treats, admire artistry, and reconnect with the profound heart of Chinese tradition.
May the beauty of this festival linger like the moon’s gentle light, inspiring us to carry forward its warmth and significance long after the lanterns dim.
