Highlights from New Pupil Induction Day

22 Aug 2025

On 19th August, Wellington College Education (China) - Tianjin successfully hosted its New Pupil Induction Day, providing new pupils and their parents, from Early Years to Senior School, with a thoughtfully organised and welcoming introduction to school life. This significant event in the Wellington educational programme was meticulously designed to ensure a smooth transition for new pupils from home to school.

Dr Yang Yang, the Master, inaugurated the new academic year with a warm and inspiring address in the Selden Theatre. She shared with new families the college’s rich educational heritage and global perspective, elaborating on the profound meaning behind the school’s motto, “Be You. Be More.

At Wellington, we prioritise not only academic excellence but also character development and holistic growth,” Dr Yang emphasised. “We aim for every child to discover their potential, challenge themselves, and become active, globally-minded citizens.” She concluded by inspiring all new pupils with this year's school slogan, "Dare to think. Dare to try.", encouraging them to explore bravely and innovate throughout the new academic year.

The senior leadership team then took to the stage to extend their welcome to new pupils and parents. It was particularly heartwarming to see a team of pupil volunteers—senior pupils from various year groups—actively supporting the event by guiding newcomers, answering questions, and sharing their own experiences of life at Wellington. Following this, each division of the school held its own tailored welcome activities.
