To encourage more pupils to learn and use Mandarin and boost their confidence in Mandarin recitation competitions, our school has hosted the Wellington "Chinese Reading by Heart" Recitation Competition for the past three years, receiving enthusiastic feedback from parents and pupils. This event is a contest of language skills and an exchange of hearts, a wonderful journey of conveying wisdom and emotions. ☛ Learn More
"Poetry spans the universe, recitation sounds melodious." Here, it feels as if we are travelling through the long river of time, listening to Li Bai's passionate aspirations and feeling Bai Juyi's gentle subtlety, with every word and phrase embodying the talent and effort of the sages. This year, pupils can participate individually, and we also encourage family members, siblings, or classmates to collaborate in the competition.
Reading is the key to unlocking the door of wisdom for children, a lighthouse in the depths of their hearts. Through the recitation competition, we hope every child can grow amidst the fragrance of books. In the world of books, Wellington pupils learn how to face themselves, how to interact with others, and how to live in harmony with nature.
This year's competition themes are diverse, not only exploring the importance of reading but also the significance of family to the individual, the importance of friendship and family bonds to a child's growth, and the importance of the Earth to all humanity.
Family is a warm harbour, a lifelong support for us. Parents are like lighthouses, illuminating our path forward with love. Parent-child recitation not only enhances the bond between parents and children but also allows children to feel the warmth and care of the family, experiencing the power and beauty of familial love in the process.
Friendship is an indispensable part of life, a warm ray of sunshine that brightens the heart, guiding us forward even in moments of confusion. Collaborative recitation among peers not only allows them to learn from and motivate each other but also to experience the power of collaboration and the true essence of friendship.
The Earth is our shared home, and its beauty and harmony need to be protected by everyone. It is our preparation for the future to let children feel the importance of protecting the Earth through recitation. The hope for the future lies in our children, and through such activities, we hope to instill in them a consciousness of environmental protection and love for nature from a young age.
We look forward to every participant finding confidence and reaping growth in this event. Let us together turn the pages of books, listen to those moving stories, and feel the pure innocence and joy. As the ancients said, "Old books are never tiresome when read a hundred times; thorough reading and deep thinking will bring self-awareness." May "Chinese Reading by Heart" become an eternal memory in the hearts of the children, jointly exploring the future. These precious experiences will become the most beautiful memories in their lives, shining as bright beacons on their path of growth.
