Mid-Autumn

Festival

The Mid-Autumn Festival has brought a lively, festive atmosphere to the school campus, uniting the entire community in a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and creativity.

A parade of traditional costumes took place the day before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Pupils from various cultural backgrounds donned their countries' traditional attire, creating a breathtaking display of colour and history. Each costume narrated a unique story, transforming the campus into a dynamic tapestry of global traditions. Senior School pupils participated in a series of performances and competitions by House, showcasing their teamwork and creativity.

Mandarin classes were abuzz with special Mid-Autumn cultural activities organised by teachers. These activities allowed pupils to reinterpret and pass on festival customs through innovative formats, enriching their learning experiences and promoting cultural exchange.

Each school division hosted themed activities throughout the week to engage pupils in the celebration. Early Years children enjoyed hands-on workshops where they crafted their own mooncakes. These sweet creations, often shaped like bunnies and full moons, reflected the pupils' creativity and excitement for the festival.

The Junior School welcomed the authors of the "Bunny Lulu Series Stories" to the campus. The authors read their lively tales to the pupils, enhancing their understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival and stimulating their creative imaginations. This event culminated in a collaborative artwork project capturing the essence of the festival. Junior pupils also dazzled the school with traditional Chinese culture and art performances during assembly, dancing to traditional music and painting Chinese landscape scenes.

Senior School pupils enjoyed an exhilarating display of Chinese Kung Fu by peers from a local Wushu school. The martial artists' powerful moves and strong postures captivated the audience, sparking a newfound interest in traditional Chinese culture. During an assembly, Year 9 pupil Sarah delivered an original speech titled "Spirit to the Moon, Heart to the Homeland." Inspired by a recent learning topic on science and technology, Sarah’s speech explored the harmony between modernity and tradition, underscoring the indispensable roles of both science and mythology in shaping culture and identity.
