Wellington Summer Camp in Tianjin has successfully concluded another enriching season, offering children from the broader Wellington community a summer filled with meaningful classes and engaging activities. As the camp wraps up, our focus shifts to the forthcoming 2024 Michaelmas Term Academy Programme, and registration is now open for eager participants.
Beyond Classroom Walls: Holistic Education at Wellington Tianjin
In line with our sister schools worldwide, Wellington Tianjin believes in education that transcends classroom boundaries. While we emphasize academic achievement, our extensive activities programme embodies our holistic approach to education. We encourage pupils to explore new interests, maintain physical and intellectual well-being, and discover lifelong passions and avenues for self-expression. These experiences cultivate well-rounded individuals who are better prepared for the world beyond Wellington.
Many pupils find their passion through our activities programme, which helps them develop a range of skills—intellectual, cultural, or athletic. We consider co-curricular activities essential for enriching pupils’ learning experience and providing depth to classroom education. These activities typically do not involve grades or exams and do not impact academic scores. Instead, they offer opportunities for pupils to engage in school team practice, drama rehearsals, music performances, and more.
Co-curricular activities offer numerous benefits, including the enhancement and development of a child's personality. They foster general development, boost self-confidence, and prepare pupils for future challenges. These activities often push pupils out of their comfort zones and encourage collaboration with peers from different year groups and other schools.
Saturday Academy: A Community Experience
Our Academy department also organizes the Saturday Academy, open to children outside Wellington. With nearly 65 diverse activities taught by international and domestic experts alongside Wellington staff, the Saturday Academy provides a real community experience tailored to individuals and families.
Our sports courses include football, basketball, tennis, fencing, swimming and judo, improving children’s physical fitness and teamwork skills. We also offer strong language courses like IPC English, French, and debating courses. Our art courses, such as Creative Design and science experiments, enhance hands-on skills and curiosity.
We provide specialist courses designed by educators from the Wellington College China group, focusing on Science and English language, alongside a full range of sports and arts activities. With teachers and coaches from the Wellington staff and carefully selected vendors, your child receives the highest quality instruction, care, and support throughout the programme.
