Wellington College UK Summer Camp 2024

 Sports and Activities 

The sports lessons were equally impressive, with a range of activities including rounders, tennis, badminton, basketball, wall climbing, and shooting obstacle courses. These lessons were designed to help pupils develop their physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork skills. The sports lessons were led by experienced coaches who provided personalized instruction and support to each pupil. 

From Mason（Year 9）

I acquired deep friendships from other cities and countries. In a rounder practice match, teams were originally grouped by school, but due to uneven numbers, one of my classmates went to the opposing team and helped them win the match. At first, I was very angry, but then I realized that my classmate did a great job. In the face of sportsmanship, he chose kindness and selflessness to help others. In fact, at that moment, I felt that both teams had won.

 Global Social Leadership Course 

Another highlight of the summer school is the Global Social Leadership course. Throughout the course, our pupils were exposed to a variety of leadership theories and practices and had the opportunity to put them into action through various team-building exercises and simulations. They learned how to communicate effectively, build trust and rapport with team members, and make decisions that benefit the group as a whole. I have been particularly impressed with the level of self-reflection and self-awareness that our pupils have demonstrated.  They were encouraged to examine their own strengths and weaknesses as leaders, thereby gaining a clearer understanding of their leadership abilities.

From Olivia（Year 10）

What impressed me the most was the true understanding of our Wellington values. For instance, during the global social leadership course, pupils from Wellington Tianjin and Wellington Bangkok were grouped. At the end of several days of class activities, the teacher asked us to elect the most outstanding pupil with leadership qualities. I thought each pupil would vote for someone from their school, but to my surprise, almost everyone chose me. At that moment, I truly understood those "words" we often emphasize, such as “inclusive” and “integrity”. As for myself, I gained a deeper understanding of responsibility, leadership, and confidence.

 Excursion  

Finally, the program includes a historical excursion, allowing pupils to explore some of the most fascinating and iconic landmarks in the UK. London tour, Hampton Palace, Oxford, and Harry Poter factory. Pupils learnt about the rich history and culture of the country and gained a deeper appreciation for the world around them. 

From Hana（Year 9）

My family and I also travelled to the UK six years ago and the routes chosen were similar to many of the shorter trips we took at this camp, such as the Harry Potter factory. I was more clueless 6 years ago and many of the attractions, I just watched, this time I independently explored further with curiosity. What's even more meaningful is that this time I was accompanied by my dear friends and best friends.
