Self-reliance breeds success: The Wellington boarding experience
In late September, Wellington College Tianjin organised a series of events to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival cultural week. It was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the whole school to commemorate this special occasion.
The Traditional Dress Day was the highlight of the cultural week. During the parade, pupils and teachers dressed up in traditional Chinese costumes. There were a variety of costumes on display, from the elegant Hanfu to the more modern Zhongshan suit. The parade was a colourful and lively event, with pupils confidently showcasing their youthful energy and pride in their culture. The performance of NEST children was particularly surprising, with the little boys in the Tang suits and the little girls in horse-faced skirts. The parade was not just about showing off costumes, but also about learning and appreciating the cultural significance behind them. Pupils learned about the history and meaning of each costume, and how they represented different regions and periods of Chinese history.
Overall, The Mid-Autumn Festival Cultural Week was celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy across all levels of school. It was also a great way to promote cultural exchange, as pupils from different backgrounds and nationalities came together to learn about the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
