Introducing the New Master of Wellington College Tianjin

We are very pleased to announce that Dr Yang, has been appointed as the Master of Wellington College Tianjin. She will continue to lead and manage the school together with the outstanding management team of Wellington College Tianjin.
Profile of Dr Yang
Dr Yang holds a PhD in Sociology of Education. She is a member of the Tianjin Hongqiao District Political Consultative Conference and formerly worked as the Director of the International Department of Tianjin Nankai Middle School and Vice-Principal of the Foreign Language School affiliated with Tianjin Foreign Studies University. Dr Yang has extensive experience in teaching and management in both domestic and international systems. During her seven years at Wellington College Tianjin, Dr Yang has actively explored the path of international education, built bridges between Chinese and expatriate teachers and students, and has made a significant impact in communication across the parent and school community. She has strived to provide a good platform for student development and success in terms of the curriculum, the teaching team, and the culture of the school. Before her appointment as the Master of Wellington College Tianjin, Dr Yang was the Deputy Head and Principal of the school and the Director of the A Level Centre. Dr Yang was awarded a prize as one of the "Top 10 Most Creative Heads of School / Kindergarten" at the 5th Annual International School Industry Conference and “Outstanding Female Educational Leader” at the 2020 Tencent Education Awards.
Dr Yang believes that the basic aim of Wellington College Tianjin is the integration of Chinese and Western education. As our pupils are from all over the world, we focus on building an international community that inspires them to understand different cultures so that they can naturally develop a concept of the world which is based on both local culture and international perspectives. Our core understanding of international education is to focus on the best of the Chinese and Western cultures within an educational context to let the pupils develop a global vision and viewpoint.
Talking about her plan and outlook for the College, Dr Yang said, “in the past ten years, Wellington College Tianjin has established a good reputation nationwide. I hope that we can continue to uphold the five core Wellington Values and try our best to make Wellington the first choice for pupils, parents, teachers, and staff. We hope every Wellingtonian that has worked or studied here can have a warm and wonderful memory.”

It has been such a pleasure to work with Yang over the past seven years. I have learned a huge amount from her during our time as colleagues. Wellington College Tianjin was founded in 2011 as the first overseas partner school of Wellington College in the UK. The school is located in Hongqiao District, Tianjin.
