Four girls from years 5 and 6 participated in the “Fuse Cup Esports Competition-Just Dance 2022” live event, competing with nearly thirty international schools from Asia and Australia. They were Lucija, Laurah, Sophia from year 5, and Kira from year 6. A big thank you also goes to Scarlett from year 5 who was a reserve player for the school team and joined the whole process of training from start to finish.
It was our first time participating in this event. We started to prepare for the competition at the beginning of the Lent Term. Ms Lucia and I ran the ASA to make an intense training programme. However, due to the lockdown, the training had to be moved online. Pupils followed various videos to dance at home, which also added fun to their e-learning life.
Although we did not reach the final having successfully competed in two rounds of competition the team enjoyed the competitive and challenging esports programme while also learning new concepts such as Digital Wellbeing, Inclusion and Social Values. They showed great effort and teamwork throughout their training and the competition itself. Given the pandemic and the challenges that pupils are faced with physical sports right now, this worldwide event brought a great deal of fun and positive values to the pupils.
